Corrente Triples Damage Resolution with AI Technology from Invers and Carvaloo

Corrente relies on car Damage Resolution with AI Technology from Invers and Carvaloo

Italian car sharing operator Corrente has significantly improved its damage resolution process using the AI-driven damage detection solution from Invers and Carvaloo. Over the past ten months, the company has successfully identified the causes of accidents and held responsible parties accountable, tripling the number of resolved cases. This advancement has had a substantial impact on operational costs and fleet efficiency.

Siegen/Bologne, May 15th, 2025 – Corrente, which operates an electric car sharing service in Bologna, Casalecchio di Reno, Ferrara, Parma and Imola, began implementing the Invers damage detection solution in May 2024. This dedicated technology, developed in collaboration with Carvaloo, combines AI-powered software with Invers’ proven CloudBoxx telematics system. The solution enables operators like Corrente to detect even minor damages in real time, allowing them to track incidents, maintain fleet integrity, reduce costs, and improve overall profitability.

Corrente, a part of the public transport provider Trasporto Passeggeri Emilia-Romagna (TPER), offers a fleet of 100% electric Volvo EX 30 vehicles. The service follows a free-floating model, allowing users to pick up and drop off vehicles within designated areas without fixed stations. Notably, Corrente is the first car sharing service in Italy to permit one-way rentals between different cities in its network. The service offers flexible pricing, including per-minute rates and daily packages, with special discounts for TPER annual subscribers. Rentals are managed through the Corrente mobile app, which allows users to locate, reserve, unlock, and operate vehicles via their smartphones.

Like many car sharing providers, Corrente faced challenges related to vehicle damage. “Contactless rentals and automated processes are fundamental to car sharing, which means operators rarely inspect individual vehicles regularly—especially in a free-floating model,” says Bharath Devanthan, Chief Business Officer at Invers. “Unfortunately, damages occur, and users often fail to report them. This results in two major issues: the next customer may receive a defective vehicle, leading to a poor user experience, and the operator may be unable to hold the responsible party accountable.”

Corrente had already been using Invers’ CloudBoxx telematics system since 2021. At an Invers customer event in early 2024, the company and it’s software partner PlayMoove were introduced to the AI-driven damage detection solution launched the previous year. Within two months, the team from Corrente, PlayMoove and Invers successfully implemented the solution across the entire fleet. Since then, Corrente has tripled its rate of successfully identifying and assigning liability for damages compared to previous months.

“We are highly impressed by the insights provided by the new damage detection solution from Carvaloo and Invers,” says Luca Astolfi, Operations Manager of Corrente. “We were already very satisfied with CloudBoxx’s reliability and its contribution to our service. Now, this additional solution is not only helping us maintain fleet safety but also making a measurable impact on our bottom line.”

Corrente currently serves more than 100,000 customers. Looking ahead, the company plans to enhance the system by integrating user notifications, providing real-time accident support, and requesting details from drivers involved in incidents. By offering an eco-friendly, convenient, and safe transportation alternative, Corrente continues to advance sustainable urban mobility in the Emilia-Romagna region.
