deer GmbH, Germany’s largest provider of e-car sharing in rural areas, is modernizing its fleet with car sharing technology from Invers. The primary reason for choosing the CloudBoxx was that it enables reliable keyless access to cars, allowing for a fully digitalized booking process. Accordingly, deer is enhancing the service’s digital infrastructure and improving the customer experience.

Siegen/Herrenberg, July 24th, 2025 – As a subsidiary of Energie Calw GmbH, deer GmbH is rethinking mobility to make it sustainable, flexible and accessible in various regions. The e-car sharing service plays a central role in the company’s strategy of connecting rural areas to urban transportation through CO2-free mobility solutions. As part of this strategy, it will use Invers’ car sharing solution in the future for its 600+ fully electric vehicles at over 400 locations in southern Germany.

Station-flexible car sharing for flexible vehicle return

deer has been offering EV car sharing since 2019, and has been steadily broadening its offerings. A distincive feature of its service ist hat it offers its vehicles in the station-flexible car sharing model. Unlike conventional station-based car sharing, this means that journeys from A to B are possible across their entire network. Users can therefore rent their car at one station and return it at another, which is ideal for commuters, municipalities and companies, and is a key reason for deer’s success. The switch to the latest telematics solution from Invers became necessary to make bookings, vehicle access and fleet management more efficient and reliable in the future: with stable 4G connectivity, the CloudBoxx guarantees reliable wireless connections even in rural areas. “Our mission is to establish flexible and climate-friendly mobility solutions in rural areas and to get from A to B in a way that is both customer and environmentally friendly,” says Selina Söhner, Head of Division at deer GmbH. “With the new CloudBoxx, we can professionalize this claim further with higher availability, better network coverage, and innovative functions for greater customer satisfaction.”

A good car sharing experience, vehicle diversity and easy installation

Other key benefits of the new solution: with the new CloudBoxx, deer now also has smoke and damage detection integrated into their system. They can now not only offer higher vehicle availability, but also ensure that their cars are clean and in the best possible mechanical condition , thus guaranteeing a good user experience. “We want to offer our customers a trouble-free, easy-to-use and completely clean mobility experience. We have found the best technology partner for the technical implementation in Invers,” continues Söhner. In addition, deer benefits from the speed with which new vehicle models can be integrated with the CloudBoxx solution – an important criterion for deer’s growth-oriented fleet management. In day-to-day operations, the new solution also allows the specialist staff to install it themselves after appropriate training. This allows the team to organize the rollout flexibly and efficiently, and execute future fleet growth autonomously, without technical support. “Our approach is to offer car-sharing companies such as deer technical solutions that are tailored precisely to the car-sharing use case,” says Bharath Devanathan, Chief Business Officer at Invers. “We’re delighted to support the deer team in tackling the challenges of electric car sharing in rural areas.”

Focus on further growth and international markets

With around 600 car sharing and 400 car subscriptions currently, and based on steadily growing demand, deer intends to further expand its network of e-car sharing and charging infrastructure locations in the coming months. Partnerships with local authorities, companies, housing associations and climate protection initiatives play a key role in this goal. In addition to its home market in Germany, the team also has its sights set on neighboring European countries. The new telematics solution is the technological basis for continuing this growth path sustainably and efficiently.

About deer

Due to the traffic and climate change, mobility concepts for the future are in demand. More mobility with fewer vehicles is the ecological and economic challenge that deer GmbH is facing. One solution is to “share” the vehicle so that the basic need for “mobility” can also be met flexibly and sustainably in rural areas thanks to a fully electric fleet. For this reason, Energie Calw GmbH (ENCW) founded deer GmbH in 2019 as a wholly owned subsidiary, a dynamic and innovative mobility company based in Herrenberg-Gültstein. deer is dedicated to designing and introducing holistic, sustainable and digital mobility concepts for municipalities, the housing industry and B2B customers.
