Subscription service Wift enhances security through Invers car sharing technology

While car subscriptions traditionally work like car rentals with personal key handovers and vehicle inspections, Wift has redefined the model by incorporating car sharing telematics solutions, including keyless entry, real-time tracking, and vehicle immobilization for additional security. These features, common in carsharing, are a first for Chile’s car subscription market.

Vancouver/Santiago, December 10th, 2024 – Wift offers car subscription in Chile and has been setting a new benchmark in vehicle security and convenience by integrating car sharing technology from Invers. This collaboration comes at a crucial time, as Chile reported over 94,000 vehicle thefts in 2023 alone. Wift’s innovative approach is transforming car subscriptions, offering peace of mind to its customers. “Right from the beginning, our key goal was convenience through automation”, says Carlos Oliveira, who co-founded Wift in March 2022. “Invers enables us to offer our customer keyless access using their smartphones and to benefit from immobilization through the telematics solution to add an extra layer of security. At the same time, we can track the car if needed in real-time and we receive comprehensive vehicle data.”

Over the first two and a half years of operation, Wift has rapidly grown  to a fleet of more than 500 vehicles across Chile. The company caters to both individual consumers (B2C) and businesses (B2B). While 60 percent of their customers are individuals who benefit from flexible offers and commitment-free car access, 40 percent are SMEs that rely on Wift for cost-effective fleet management solutions. “Wift’s data-driven approach and scalable technology position it as a leader in the evolving landscape of transportation services in South America”, says Rudy Six, CEO of Invers Mobility Solutions. “We are looking forward to support the company in its plan to expand into other Latin American markets, including Mexico, Colombia, and Brazil.”

Vehicle immobilization is a standard feature in car sharing. By inactivating the car engine, immobilizers safeguard against theft and unauthorized use. With Wift’s app, users can lock their vehicles, activate immobilization, and enjoy peace of mind knowing their vehicle is secure. By turning a standard carsharing feature into a customer benefit, Wift has redefined what car subscriptions can offer. In addition, thanks to real-time tracking and immobilization, Wift boasts an impressive 95 percent recovery rate for stolen vehicles. Carlos Oliveira recounts a pivotal story: “A vehicle was stolen in Santiago, but with telematics tracking capabilities, we located and recovered it within hours—despite it being 100 kilometers away. Knowing we can safeguard our assets while reinforcing customer trust is incredibly rewarding.” But Wift didn’t stop at stolen vehicle recovery. They extended these tools to tackle other challenges. For example, if a subscriber falls behind on payments, Wift can remotely block the vehicle and track its location. This proactive approach mitigates financial risks and helps maintain transparency in customer relationships.
