Maintenance in car sharing: Invers expands CloudBoxx with Maintenance Data

INVERS Maintenance Data

For the first time, car sharing operators can receive real-time, remote notifications about dashboard warning lights, service intervals, and vehicle status data, such as windshield washer fluid levels, without dispatching service employees to the vehicle. With the addition of Maintenance Data, Invers is providing car sharing operators with warning light information and service data in the backend of its car sharing telematics solution, CloudBoxx. This feature is available without additional hardware.

Siegen, June 17th 2026 – A key factor in the success of modern car sharing is to digitize and automate the rental process as much as possible. Service teams are rarely physically present at the vehicle, so they cannot regularly check for active warning lights or necessary maintenance. Until now, car sharing providers have relied on customer feedback, scheduled maintenance appointments, and routine vehicle inspections to identify problems and upcoming maintenance needs. This often results in a negative customer experience. Up to 10 percent of one-star ratings from customers are due to warning lights that make customers uncomfortable. This was revealed by detailed analyses of pilot projects. Furthermore, warning lights accounted for 6.5 percent of incoming customer calls. Often, problems are detected only after a delay, if at all, leading to further customer frustration and potentially more significant damage to the car.

INVERS Maintenance Data solves this problem. This feature reads vehicle data via the pre-installed CloudBoxx and provides real-time information such as engine warning lights, brake system alerts, ABS warnings, oil pressure readings, coolant temperature readings, service appointment reminders, mileage estimates until the next oil or brake fluid change, and AdBlue, windshield washer fluid, coolant, and brake fluid levels. Operators can immediately remove vehicles with critical alerts from the booking system, schedule workshop visits in advance, and provide support teams with specific vehicle data.
“Car sharing can only replace private cars if it is just as reliable, safe, and convenient. The vehicles must therefore always be in top condition to provide the best possible customer experience,” says Alexander Kirn, CEO of INVERS. “Maintenance Data provides car sharing operators with the necessary information to take preventive action before a problem results in a canceled rental or vehicle breakdown.”

Feature Overview:

  • Service scheduling: service appointments, remaining mileage until the next service or oil change, oil quality, and brake fluid intervals
  • Critical system monitoring: Real-time status of the engine warning light, coolant temperature, oil pressure, brake system, ABS, ESP, EPC, steering, and battery
  • Fluid level monitoring: AdBlue, windshield washer fluid, coolant, brake fluid, and tire pressure
  • Price: €2.50 per vehicle per month
  • Requires no additional device or separate portal

Notifications can be received via Slack or email, or through no-code automation tools such as n8n, Make, or Zapier. Data on warning lights and service intervals can also be forwarded directly into existing workflows or to the appropriate contacts in the service team via API. This allows maintenance and service processes to be automated as much as possible.

Maintenance Data is now available. More information about the product is available here.
