Rental vans now in Basel: Quick Rent continues to grow with technology from Invers

Quick Rent Transporter in the Swiss Alps

Starting November 2024, Quick Rent’s iconic orange and blue vans will be stationed in the heart of Basel city center, thanks to reserved shared mobility parking spaces provided by the canton of Basel-Stadt. This strategic initiative not only enhances convenience for Quick Rent’s customers, offering a seamless journey to their rental vans, but also marks another milestone in the company’s growth. Since its inception, Quick Rent has relied on Invers technology to expand its fleet, and we’re excited to continue this partnership as we evolve.

Siegen/Liebefeld, October 8th, 2024 – Whether moving house, buying furniture or transporting bulky items, there are moments when specialised vehicles like vans are required. Often, these needs arise during evenings, weekends, or public holidays when rental stations might be closed, making convenient, digital access to rentals crucial. From now on, Quick Rent will provide Basel residents with precisely this service. “Our customers are often under pressure: they have important tasks to complete, such as moving house or transporting furniture, and don’t want to spend a lot of time renting a van,” says Ali Akdas, founder and CEO of Quick Rent. “We offer a fully digitalised vehicle rental service that works reliably 24/7, 365 days a year, now available in the heart of Basel.”

Quick Rent has been offering van and delivery van rentals in Switzerland since December 2016 and has relied on sharing technology from Invers right from the start. “The solutions are the most reliable on the market, particularly for vehicle access with locking and unlocking it, particularly for vehicle access, and their technology is compatible with a variety of makes and models”, adds Ali Akdas. Customers register with Quick Rent and enter their driving license and payment details. After downloading the app, they can book their preferred van. With a few taps, users can unlock the vehicle through the app and securely end their rental with the same convenience.

Since its inception, Quick Rent has successfully expanded its fleet tenfold and currently offers over 100 vans at 57 rental stations in Switzerland. Their lineup includes Renault Trafic vans, Peugeot Boxers, Citroen Jumpers, Mercedes Sprinters, Mercedes Vitos and MAN TGE vans. The Quick Rent team cleans and maintains the vehicles themselves, and carryies out most repairs. On average, a van in the Quick Rent fleet remains operational for around four years. “For mobility providers like Quick Rent, it’s important that the technology can grow with the business”, says Bharath Devanathan, Chief Business Operator at Invers. “Entrepreneurs like Ali Akdas need the flexibility to develop their business models and scale their fleets to offer their customers the best service at the right time and place.”

The demand for hire vans remains high, with Quick Rent often recording 100 bookings per day, particularly during weekends and at the turn of the quarter. “I see potential for us to operate up to 500 vans in Switzerland,” estimates Ali Akdas, highlighting the room for growth in the market. In a strategic move to enhance accessibility, Quick Rent has partnered with the Swiss railway company SBB to provide conveniently located vans near railway stations. This collaboration represents a significant step in addressing the last-mile challenge for rental vans while promoting multimodal mobility options for customers.
